Research Activities

Establish ad hoc technical working group
PIF organized two technical working groups in 2011.
WG-1 October, 2011
WG1 quantified a percentage of photonic network power consumption occupied in the whole power consumption of communication networks in Japan. Optical communication technologies are expected to bring energy-saving effects in the field of ICT.
WG-2 December, 2011
WG2 has researched future key technologies of photonic network that is able to recover communication line failures flexibly caused by large scale disasters such as earthquakes. In this year, WG2 extracted the necessary research issues.
