Annual General Meeting and Lectures/Exhibitions 2018

The PIF held the Annual General Meeting, and subsequently held the Annual Lectures/Exhibitions on June 29, 2018 at GAKUSHIKAIKAN, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
In the lectures, 3 lectures shown in the following program were held and it was a unique opportunity to comprehend the latest trends in photonic network technology, the proof of concepts and challenges of the 5G wireless backhaul in Korea, and the state-of-the-art research and development on quantum computers.
In the exhibitions held at the same time, the members of PIF (4 organizations) introduced and exhibited the advanced technologies related to the photonic networks.
It became very meaningful and valuable lectures/exhibitions for the participants more than 80 including the university students and general participants.

Co-hosting of the Workshop and study tour of RIKEN's K computer
July 25, 2018, RIKEN's IIB (Kobe)
The PIF co-hosted the Workshop and study tour of RIKEN's K computer together with the Technical Committee on Photonic Network of IEICE and RCH (*) on July 25 at RIKEN's IIB, Kobe, Japan.
In the Workshop, a lecture on fundamentals and latest trends of router/switch, 2 lectures on the efforts and results of R&D in the RCH program were held and it was a unique opportunity to comprehend the routing/switching technology and the state-of-the-art R&D on Precision Health. In the study tour of K computer, we were able to observe K computer thoroughly with many questions and answers. In addition, poster presentations by the university students and interchange of opinions were carried out in the night session.
It became very meaningful and valuable events for the 44 participants including the students.
(*)RCH(The“Compass to Healthy Life” Research Complex program) accepted under the Research Complex program launched by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in 2015 aims to serve as a “compass” to help people lead healthier and more fulfilling lives by developing a “virtual-self ” tool that will offer accurate guidance for better maintaining and promoting health.
 
 
iPOP 2018, The 14th International Conference on IP + Optical Network
May 31‐June 1, 2018, NICT(Koganei Headquarter)
The 14th International Conference on IP + Optical Network (iPOP2018) was held during May 31‐June 1, 2018 at Koganei Headquarter, NICT, Koganei Tokyo, Japan.
The PIF supported the conference by the dispatch of the officer, the cooperation to management of TPC, the participation in interoperability demonstration, the operation of the online registration site.
In addition, the PIF Standard Promotion Committee which surveys the trends and the key features of latest standardization activities on the photonic networks introduced and exhibited the activities by using the poster, the leaflets and the slide show of the PC.
